Amplifying the Delicate
The internet is a portal. It is a loom with which we weave our shared threads. It is shared consciousness. It is time travel. It is medicine, which can be used to cure or kill. As a practitioner and student of the plants, I am stepping up to recognize my duty to share what I have learned. To spin my thread into the collective effort.
I've always been on the fence about combining technology with my more spiritual & medicine based interests, but the techno world has always been a big part of my life.
I remember as a 12 year old, I scanned a shared, almost sacred folder of drawings, scraps, notes passed between friends, and created a geo-cities site where my friend group could archive this hidden magic for all time (although I have yet to find it buried away in the ethers). Now we have instagram, tumblr, etc. with it's seemingly endless scrolling of carefully curated content that can be used as some seriously inspiring medicine, if you are careful not to get trapped in the scroll.
It's a tool to make something small, unseen, or quiet into a powerful force. The internet amplifies the personal, the delicate, and makes it known to all who seek.
I had been quietly writing songs and playing guitar for years, but once I switched over to creating electronic music everything changed. This isn't to say that some of the most potent medicine isn't the intimate connection through the tiniest breaths, strums, and pulses, but sometimes it takes a bone rattling sub-bass to get folks to feel what you're trying to communicate.
As much as I'd love to give it up and live out the rest of my life as a complete luddite, I am challenging myself to embrace the internet as a channel to the natural world that's been communicating in it's subtle breaths and pulses, and to amplify those messages. I'm also using this platform as a way to get more comfortable with sharing other things like poems and pictures and other ramblings.
Love to all this reaches!
