Plant Spirit Journeying

Have you ever heard a plant speak to you?

Plants communicate all the time, through color and fragrance, and they can also speak directly with us if we learn how to listen to their more subtle voices.

In this workshop, we will learn how to access the Otherworld, which would otherwise (usually…) remain hidden to us. We will journey to meet and learn directly from a medicinal herb spirit, as well as a benevolent ancestor who may have worked with the plant in their lifetime.

What is Shamanic Journeying?

Shamanic Journeying is a tool used by Shamanic cultures all over the world. When one hears the word “Shamanism”, oftentimes the Shamans indigenous to North and South America are first to come to mind due to their portrayal in US popular culture and the appropriation of Ayahuasca rituals. However, record of Shamanic practices can be found in nearly every indigenous culture on every continent. I am currently in a training program which focuses on the shamanic practices of the Celts, so that is where I will teach from.

Journeying is the process of accessing a trance-like state of consciousness which allows one to interact with “non-ordinary reality”. Often times a sonic driver, such as a drum beat, chanting, and shaking rattles or bells, is used to shift one’s brain into this dream-like, meditative state. For this session, I will provide a drum beat.

Everyone receives messages in different ways. Some may see visuals, others will hear voices clear as a bell, while others may feel sensations. There is no one experience that is better than another, and the way in which a message is sent is intentional; The spirits always find the most direct way to communicate.

Where can I sign up?

This workshop will be held online via Google Meet, with a suggested donation of $5. To register, send an email to SeaSongRootRI@gmail.com + I will send you the link and info! This a sober workshop, please refrain from using any altering substances while journeying.

Plant Spirit Meditation

  • Google Calendar ICS

We will sit with three anonymous herbs prepared as tea, opening us up to the teachings of the plant spirits through meditative journeying.

What is Plant Spirit Meditation?

Plants communicate with each of us every day in subtle non verbal ways (although it can be not-so-subtle + can appear as voices). Dropping into a meditative state can allow us the space to invite in + explore the messages the plants have to offer us.

Everyone experiences these messages in different ways, some visual, some auditory, others feel a tingling or warmth. After sitting with a plant, we will have the opportunity to share our experiences with each other which is often a mind-blowing, empowering experience for all.

The transition from February to March always seems to be a tough one. It can feel like spring is so close you can touch it, yet it is still very much winter.

This class will focus on exploring herbal remedies + rituals for common complaints this time of year: depression, exhaustion, lack of movement/sunshine, restlessness, etc. by working with warming adaptogens, carminatives, circulatory stimulants + nervines.
Students will be able to make a warming, mood supporting tea blend to bring home with them.
